        LOGLINE

In a world where children with intellectual disabilities are cast off as a
liability, an eleven year old girl with high support needs learns
how to navigate the world safely with her autism
        assist service dog.

Alison is from London, Ontario, and is an active young girl
who partakes in many activities outside of school.
                   With such an adventurous nature,
there is also a safety risk.

Alison’s Journey takes a remarkable turn
when she meets Buttons for the first time.
Buttons is a standard poodle and an autism assistant
service dog graduating from Lions Foundation of Canada
Dog Guides. When they met, the two became inseparable.
With Buttons as her trusted companion,
                   Alison’s world has
expanded with so many new opportunities.

The theme of this documentary is safety and well-being.
Alison’s Journey is proof that no matter
who you are or where you come from,
there is always hope and opportunity.

Hey i'm Harry and I'm the director of this production, I have a connection to Alison’s Journey as I fostered her guide dog for the first 18 months of his life. I am really excited to tell her story and work with amazing people!

Hello I'm Emily! I joined this documentary because I’ve always been inspired by service dogs and the amazing work they do. As the sound editor, I wanted to help capture the emotional connection between Alison and her guide dog through sound — the joyful moments, the trust, and the teamwork. Outside of film, I enjoy collecting special-edition Canadian coins. I think each one has its own small story as to why it was made. To me, these coins are my version of Pokémon cards! (Give me all the cool ones, please, thanks)

Hello I'm Abdullah, I was inspired to join this film because I think it is an incredibly heartwarming story of someone who struggles to connect, finding connection. This is something that I think everyone can relate to, and an angle which can help people to understand those with learning disabilities like Alison's.

Hey, I'm Ella and I am honoured to be a part of the crew and help share this story. I was inspired to join this film because we get to step inside of Alison's world and create a connection between Alison and the audience while showcasing her unique journey. Like Alison's collection of buttons, I love collecting snow globes of places I want to travel and parts of the world that inspire me.

Hey I'm Nat! I was inspired to join this film because I've always been interested in service dogs and how they helped people. I love to collect old film cameras as I love seeing the row of old cameras that I've collected over time.

Hi I’m Emily, the producer for this documentary! Harry has been telling me Alison’s story before this documentary and I’m very grateful I get to be a part of it now. I love collecting earrings and all different kinds of jewelry.

Hey I'm Steven! I joined this documentary because I enjoy dogs and know the difference a pet can make in someone’s life. As the location recordist for day one, I had a great time learning about the work that goes into guide dog training and the assistance they can provide.

Hi I'm Shauna, I'm a 21 year filmmaker who derives too much joy from collecting overpriced plastic boxes. My family adopted a cockapoo named Dolly about 5 years ago, and despite adamantly not liking dogs at the time, she's become one of my greatest joys who has helped me with her cuteness and friendship more times then I can count.

Hi I'm Travis, I’m really interested in working on this film because there’s such a unique story to tell, and I’d love to be part of the journey.

Hi, I’m Vanessa. I joined this documentary because I deeply connect with Allison’s story. Like Allison, I grew up with a learning disability and navigating life often felt challenging at times. Having the support and emotional bond of an animal can make such a meaningful difference in someone’s life. As a composer, I want to create music that captures the emotional depth of the film - the moments of joy, hard times and everything in between.

Hi, my name is Camille, and Harry told me about Alison’s story before this doc was conceptualized. That, and the fact that I love animals, inspired me to join this crew. I love collecting key chains!

Hi I'm Madelyn, I was inspired to join this film because I heard Alison's story and thought it was really sweet and moving. Like her collecting buttons.

Hey I'm Seth! When I was asked to join this doc, I knew I couldn't turn it down. I think it's very important to shine light on topics that don't get the recognition that they deserve. Alison's Journey is something that I think everyone can learn and be inspired by. And I also collect Lego like Alison does Buttons :)

Hello I'm Lili! I'm really excited to work on this project alongside this amazing crew! As a behind the scenes photographer and transmedia producer I hope to capture some fun photos and show all the hard work that was put into Alison's Journey. I like to collect old toys that I can decorate and make my own.
