Sheltered Love

At the Oakville and Milton Humane Society, three dedicated workers open up about their jobs and the impact they make on both animals and people.

Sheltered Love follows three workers at the Oakville and Milton Humane Society (OMHS) who are all very passionate about their jobs. Jacqui is an Adoptions Counsellor, Euni is a Communications Assistant, and Jenna works as an Animal Care Attendant. They all contribute greatly to OMHS and are willing to share their perspectives on this community and the impact the Humane Society has on both people and the animals.

When Beansprout came to the shelter, he'd had puncture wounds over his whole body and one leg was broken from an attack by an older dog. The issue was that Beansprout needed that medical care at a time when he should have been developing the skills how to be a dog, since it's a really important time for socialization when they're young puppies, and he was on cage rest with  all these injuries that were healing. So because of that, he's terrified of other dogs so it's tricky to find the right owner. In the end however, Beansprout is a delightful and energetic dog with a collection of baseballs he loves to chase.
