Palais Pandemonium is a short, experimental documentary underlining the hypocrisy of the Cannes Film Festival. The film strays away from Conventional narrative, instead utilizing avant- garde cinema for an emotionally engaging and abstract experience. By contrasting the 68' and 2023 protests, Palais Pandemonium will reveal Macron's political corruption, as well as the repetition of history. |

David Cuevas - Director
Hello, My name is David Cuevas and I'm the writer and co-editor of Palais Pandemonium. Since my time working as a journalist in the film industry, I've always wanted to make a film that could shed a more honest light on film festival culture. Beneath the glitz and glamour, there is a rotting core at the crux of the chaos. Palais Pandemonium aims to dissect these cycles of capital perpetration. Through the experimental tradition, Palais Pandemonium transcends its cyclone of influences through the conventions of the avant-garde. My favourite Cannes Film Festival film is When the Cat Comes (or alternatively known as the Cassandra's Cat) |
Xavier Liska - Producer
I thought that working on a project like Palais Pandemonium would be a very interesting take on the Cannes Film Festival. I was especially intrigued by the heavy use of archival footage and filming re-enactments on a film camera. My favourite film that's been screened at the Cannes Film Festival is "Playback Time" (2007). |
Seng Yang "Alan" Haw - DOP
I'm interested to work on Palais Pandemonium because of the opportunity to shoot on film for the first time in my life, and this documentary has a unique and interesting subject. My favourite film from Cannes Film Festival is "Parasite". |
Allison Harvie - Editor/Sound Mixer
When I initially heard David's idea and plan for Palais Pandemonium I was very excited about the sound design and the room for creativity and experimentation with this film. I was bombarded with a million ideas at once, so I wanted to join his team right away to participate in the making of this film. My favourite film that has plaid at the Cannes Film Festival would be "Shrek 2" Sandra Karic - VFX
I wanted to work on Palais Pandemonium because I thought its approach was very creative and unlike anything ive seen before. As well as it giving me the opportunity to use my VFX skills in creative ways! my fave Cannes Film Festival movie has to be Synecdoche New York |
Raj Brahmbhatt - Transmedia Producer
While examining David's pitch, I automatically understood what types of moods and feelings he was attempting to bring about through the Avant-garde approach. Secondly, it was a concept wildly unique to any other production in the program, and so I offered my services. My favourite film that's been screened at the Cannes Film Festival is "Wages of Fear" by Henri-Goerges Clouzot. Nat - Production Design
I was really intrigued by this project in its experimental style as a documentary, shooting on film, and how we could play with visual aspects to tell a story A film I really enjoyed that premiered at Cannes was Moonrise Kingdom.

Jean-Luc Godard, 1968 "
The radio announces by the hour that factories are occupied or closed, the trains have stopped, and the metro and buses will be next. So to announce every hour that the Cannes Film Festival continues is just ridiculous”
