A visceral look within Toronto’s underground rock scene, Living Loud explores the culture and life of underground rock, as well as the struggles musicians face against the mainstream.
With the rise of corporate mainstream music made popular by streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music, smaller artists with a blazing fire in their hearts are overshadowed by this phenomenon. This rockumentary shines a light on this rebellious and diverse underground scene. The film follows various bands from different angles of the scene. A band like Born Riot sounds very Indie rock, while a band like the Sluggs is traditionally punk sounding. These bands represent the alternative world of passionate artists who pour their soul into their live performances. Despite them being so niche, there is this strong drive to continue performing and creating. That passion and drive is what this film desires to capture.

I'm Darcy Stanish and I am the producer of Living Loud. My favourite rock song is the Queen + Adam Lambert version of "The Show Must Go On," and I am not afraid to admit that! My favourite live music experience is when I saw Louis Tomlinson on his Faith in the Future Tour.

I'm Keaton Browning, and I am the Director of Photography for Living Loud. My favourite rock song is "Curse the Weather" by Mo Lowda & the Humble. My favourite live music experience is when I saw my favourite band Mo Lowda & the Humble. After the show, the lead singer came out afterwards to hang out with everyone. I had the chance to introduce myself, shake his hand and thank him for the show. It really meant a lot to me and was so cool of him to do that.
