Meet Lucy 

​Lucy is a 16-year-old girl living with an intellectual disability. Cognitively functioning at the age of 9, Lucy’s world is small, and the lack of understanding and acceptance from our society makes it even smaller.

However, her life takes a transformative turn when she's introduced to Jasmine, her new equine partner. Stepping into the world of horses provides Lucy with a sense of belonging and acceptance, allowing her to truly flourish! In her remarkable journey of navigating the complexities of riding she finds her sense of belonging in a heartwarming tale of courage, passion, and the unbreakable bond between a girl and her horse.

Magill Moyes 

Hi, my name is Magill, the director of "Beyond The Reins." With a decade of equestrian experience, I've witnessed the remarkable bond between humans and their horses. Drawing from a personal connection to the themes of inclusion and acceptance, I'm dedicated to capturing the profound beauty within life's most vulnerable moments through this documentary.

Gabriel Capati 

Hi my name is Gabriel Capati and I am a camera operator for beyond the reins. Being apart of this project was amazing, having the everyone come together to create a truly heartwarming and beautiful documentary was such an amazing experience. This story was so vitally important to tell, because it shows us a different perspective that we normally don’t see everyday, it gives us an opportunity to be put in someone else’s shoes. So happy to be apart of it.

Carson Zikman 

Hi, I’m Carson, the picture editor for Beyond the Reins. This documentary is important to me because it gives Lucy a voice as well as a platform to tell her story. Along with the rest of our talented crew, I can’t wait to contribute my efforts to help tell that story.
