Alongside a day in the studio, young metal band Zero Tolerance delve into profound discussions about the modern music scene, pursuing artistic passions in the aftermath of a pandemic, and the influence of family on their journey as musicians. 

Be as Loud as You Want in the Garage is a short documentary about a young metal band, Zero Tolerance, who formed after finding their passion for music during the pandemic. Zero Tolerance has recently been able to play their first live shows this past summer and have become active members of the metal scene. With the added perspective of a metal fan in bands throughout the 80s and 90s, Dave Copeland, musician and father of Zero Tolerance's Eve Copeland and Eon Copeland, began creating a home studio to further pursue his passions of recording and mixing music. Follow along a day in the studio with Zero Tolerance and Dave Copeland as they record their latest hit and discuss their bond as both a family and a band. Together they have come to understand the ever-changing modern metal scene and the importance of a family dynamic when encouraging artistic passions.

Music is such an important part of my life and I wanted to be able to share my story, the stories of those I am closest to, and how music connects us all.

I'm Jacob Mayhew, the co-producer in this project. I loved learning about what goes on behind the scenes and the effort it takes to compose, play and produce a piece of music. It was really awesome to learn how independent bands were affected during the pandemic and how a community can be formed throughout something so isolating.

I did the location sound for this project, and it was such a cool experience delving into the local band scene and seeing all the behind-the-scenes effort that goes into producing a song. Music is such a huge part of my life, I'm always listening and searching for new artists and I even play a couple of instruments. I'm really happy to have worked on this doc and I can't wait for everyone to see it.

Hi I'm Connor Evans and I am the 1st AC and Gaffer on Eve's documentary. My favourite part was working with the crew, love those guys. Working on a doc about music was really cool and interesting. I'm a Zero Tolerance fan so I love their stuff. Music is a big part of my life, obviously not as much as Eve but I really love listening to music, playing guitar, and song writing on the side. I see music kind of in the same light as I see film, I share the same love for the creative process. It's an art that offers a way to reflect on life and that helps you understand your own emotions and the world around you.

I'm Ainsley McCracken and I have the great pleasure to do both picture edit and post sound! Getting to watch a young band come out of the pandemic and how they're making it work in this crazy world is so cool to see and getting to be the one who puts it all together piece by piece is such an amazing experience and wonderful way to get deeper into the world of music! I've only just started to really get into music and it's effects it can have on people and seeing the passion come out of this band is amazing.
