Friends on the Crew
Megan Bradshaw - Director/Writer/Social MediaMegan Bradshaw is the writer, director, and social media content creator for Stepping Together. Her favourite colour is purple... yet her hair is blue, her discord user name is "Blue Fever Queen", her license plate is "Blue Fever", her favourite sports team is the Blue Jays, and all she ever wears is blue. (Are you sure your favourite colour is purple, Megan?) She constantly confuses colours too, specifically grey and blue. She doesn't know the difference between them. (The slide was grey, Megan. I think you should go back to kindergarten and relearn your colours.) She is a woman of many talents, and is the glue that holds our crew together. She is a major horror fanatic, loves pineapples and pumpkin spice iced capps (and drinks them weirdly, might I add). Overall, Megan is a lovely person who anyone would be delighted to call a friend. Her go-getting attitude is infectious, and she inspires me every time I have the pleasure of working with her.

Shayla Rowsell - ProducerShayla is the producer for Stepping Together. She is a strong leader and very capable when it comes to keeping the process moving forward. Her passion for the production is always evident as she makes suggestions that are both for the best outcome of the film, and the well being of those involved in it (making sure our scheduling doesn’t compromise anyones health). She loves to read and collect books, she likes true crime stories (both film and novel), she has a very “complicated” Starbucks order and loves to pick on Dylan for his drink preferences (Rum and Coke is a perfectly fine drink SHAYLA!) One thing that her and Dylan share in common is a strong ability to identify colour because that slide was definitely grey. On set and off, Shayla is always committed to ensuring the enjoyment of the cast and crew, and is a great friend to have, playful banter and all.

Dylan Mayberry - Director of PhotographyDylan is the director of photography for Stepping Together. He has a great eye and an excitement for film that shows in everything he does, from his incredible dedication, to the enthusiasm he shows for a shot well-taken. He always comes up with big solutions in the moments you need it most (easy rig or no easy rig). Anyone who meets Dylan will be welcomed by his warm and open personality. His crew mates will quickly become his friends. He enjoys video games, watching hockey and baseball, and beverages (apple juice? Really, Dylan?). He should work on identifying colours though, because the slide is absolutely blue. Dylan is always ready for some playful back and forth and makes the filmmaking experience so much fun.

Erin Zhao - Location SoundErin is location sound for Stepping Together. It is really fun to chat with Erin. We are both international students. And when we met each other, our similarity just clicks. We shared our experience of the time that we just arrived in Canada. It was all scary and adventurous. But now when we look back and listen to each other’s stories, it brings a lot of joys. Erin shared her story about how hard it was to figure out the public transit here, and how interesting it is when you come to a new country everything is different and you can’t figure out where is North and where is East.

Fenghao Bi - Assistant SoundFenghao is the CA for stepping together. He is a charming person. We have been classmates since our first year in college. But I haven't got a chance to really know him. We talked during our shooting day about how we have many things in common. We became friends and planned to go to the next Lady Gaga concert together. I remember he carries many colourful tapes. After the rehearsal, he sticks the tape to the ground and tries to make our subjects find their position easier. The first thought in my mind is, damn, this boy is good. I'm happy that I finally got to know and became friends with him.

Friends on the Screen
Shereen Worrad - SubjectShereen is one of the lovely subjects of Stepping Together. She is the one who had the farthest distance to travel to be a part of the film. Thankful for her great sense of adventure and willingness to travel even if it is a long distance so we can keep stepping together. Her favourite colour is blue, however I don’t think the question is what colour is the slide but why didn’t we go on the slide.
Shereen is such a source of encouragement to try new things, always there to help you up when you fall and goes above and beyond to help. Her wisdom, faith and kindness has been such a gift. No matter what life throws our way, we are always willing to dance. Even going to dances in the country where every step is important. Written by: Tammy Pierce |
Tammy Pierce - SubjectTammy is the other wonderful subject of Stepping Together. I would describe Tammy as bubbly and caring and selfless. I think there's a comfort level there that we've been through a lot of different things together, and are seeing each other through various different things, that I think creates a familial bond. Like sisterhood. What encapsulates everything would be all those little moments laughing together and just calling and saying, I care and what are you going through? How can I be there for you? It's all those little moments that add up to encapsulate the treasure that she is.

"What friendship means to me is that it's taking time to be present with someone, to connect with someone, to be willing to work through any differences of opinions. But it's basically journeying along the way with people, just taking it one step at a time."
- Tammy Pierce

Liza's Memory
Me and my best friend Yasmine took and hour and half to get back home on what was supposed to be a 15 minute bus ride. We didn’t get lost but whenever we are together we get so sucked into our conversation we stop paying attention to our surroundings. We missed our stop and didn’t realize till the end of the line and then missed it again on the way back. We then proceeded to get off a stop to early on the third bus we took. All for the same reason every time. We just could not stop talking and were so invested in our conversation. We laugh about this story all the time but have since started taking more caution when travelling together. It’s worked to various degrees of success. 😊
