A movie about people doing things at home

3 subjects, 3 living spaces, infinite rituals. A loop to be watched over and over again. Compare and contrast peoples lives.

Jae Higgins

Director, Co-Producer, Assistant Editor, Colorist

"In recent years I've found myself more intrigued by the in-between of actions and the more mundane drama in movies. Inspired by the films of Chantal Akerman and Ron Fricke I wanted to explore both the mundane elements of life and compare and contrast different peoples daily tasks and draw a parallel between their chores and things like religious practices or cultural practices. The film is designed to be watch over and over again. It's an infinite loop of the same day over and over again." - Jae

Jacob Belisario

Picture Editor

"I’m an editor/videographer/photographer based out of the GTA. I love routine almost as much as I love animals. This project was intriguing to me because I have always been curious about the daily routines of others. This film follows the day of not one but THREE people in a candid style that allows for a direct comparison. Ritual spotlights the mundane and shows that there is a life being lived beyond what we see on the outside. This film captures the local realities of each individual that we would have no way of seeing otherwise." - Jacob

Leo Sadek

Director of Photography, Camera Operator

"It's been a pleasure working with such amazing crew trying to document people's daily activities that may seem normal to them but very interesting to the viewer. This documentary, though looks cryptic at first, offers an interesting perspective on how humans are different but similar at the same time. They say" you are what you eat", but our documentary proves that you are what you do ritualistically every day when you are alone!" - Leo

Mill Quintero Acosta

Producer, DMT

"It’s been a great learning experience to produce this documentary with Jae. The vision to capture the intimate moments of our every day life that we ritualize always peaked my interest and it’s been such a pleasure to be able to help in the realization of what started as a small idea. There is beauty in the trivial and the ordinary and I'm happy to help produce a documentary that exemplifies this beauty." - Mill

Brian Shute

Location Sound, Post-Sound/Sound Mixer

"I grew up fiddling with audio equipment and software, so I've always had an ear for sound recording and mixing. I'm particularly excited to work on 'Ritual', since unique projects often require a different, more experimental approach to all facets of production, including sound. I'm lucky to be involved in a project that allows everyone to 'play' with new and exciting ideas instead of 'working' with them." - Brian
