In The Forest
“In the Forest” is an experimental/poetic documentary that explores human connections with the Oakville Forest as a home away from home.
As a significant part of the local community, the Oakville Forest will be this documentary's primary subject. We want to discover how the forest is unique to the community
and through these testimonials, explore the theme that home can be found anywhere. Not only that but this documentary will cover the looming threat of our diminishing green spaces and how overwhelming transitional periods can be. |
The Team
Poppi Fella Pellegrino
Co-Director/Co-Editor hey! I'm Poppi and I am one of the directors of In the Forest:) Since moving to Oakville for school last year, I've walked in the Oakville forest almost every day. It is a place I really cherish and it has helped me through many hard times and many good ones. It is one of the most meaningful places in Oakville to me and one of the places me and the other director Harlow first became friends. We can't wait to share our stories as well as the stories of 4 wonderful people and how their lives have been changed because of the forest🌿 |

Matthew Goodman Caines
Location Sound Recordist Hello everyone! My name is Matt. I am the location sound recorder for In The Forest Documentary! Working on this project has helped remind me of a place that I can use as an escape. Being out and taking in every sound that surrounds me has been a meditation. I feel this process has brought me closer to the art that we’re making, the crew members, also closer to the forest itself. I’m so excited to see the result of all the amazing work by our crew. Jonus Zeballos
Sound Editor heyo, im Jonus Zeballos, i'm doing post sound for "in the forest". I've also loved the forest, as a kid id always go on road trips around canada and exploring nature was always fun. i have specific memories as a child. my father taking me to creak in the forest and explaining how "your life is like a leaf in a stream, you gotta go with the flow, but avoid whirlpool". in my teens finding an abandoned tree house and bringing my friends there to hangout. it has impacted my life immensely, I don't know who id be without them. |
Hannah Bennett
Transmedia Hello! I'm Hannah and I am looking forward to seeing the creative avenues taken with this documentary. I don't have a lot of experience with the Oakville forest but I always find that when I need time to recharge myself or help my mental state, a walk in the forest will always help me out. |
