Off The Boat
A visual memoir following a determined man as he journeys from Italy to Canada in search of a better life.
A trek through the early years of Marino DiBenedetto, a working man who came to Canada in search of a better life. Through an extensive sit down with Marino (now in his early 80s), he shares a personal take from an Italian-born immigrant who came to Canada with close to nothing but with the opportunities the nation gave him he was able to beat the odds, achieving everything he set out to do. He left his family and home for Canada at the young age of 18 and immediately worked in construction in Toronto in the late 50’s.

Behind The Scenes
Our team had the unique challenge of working under COVID restrictions. Our Director and Editor overcame this challenge by innovating the relationship between Director and Subject by interacting over a zoom call while we the rest of the crew shot the film on location.
