I Am Latina
The journey of Latin women who immigrated to North America and started being perceived as something they are not.
A group of Latin American women take us on the journey of their past experiences being labeled under stereotypes based on their ethnicity. They share their frustration and their inability to act when put in those situations. Together and accompanied by other Latin American
women, they join forces to share their personal stories and bring this topic forward, allowing audiences to understand the struggle of being a woman whose body and personality is expected to match an objectifying stereotype. |
Meet the Team!
Director/Editor - Emilia MieresHi, my name is Emilia Mieres, I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and I am the creator and director of “I Am Latina”. I’m very excited about seeing how little by little this project has come to life. When I first thought about this concept, I wanted to do something to portray the common experiences that Latina women go through as immigrants/family background. I love having the opportunity to share so many different stories from different people but within one community. I hope you guys are excited to hear them.
Sound - Christian CanieteHi! My name is Christian and I am looking forward to working on this documentary because I think it has a very strong message about stereotypes and discrimination that I hope to illustrate through the power of sound!
BTS - Daisy GaoHi, I’m Daisy. I’m working as BTS camera and also helping with the color correction for Latina. I’m looking forward to help women from different cultural backgrounds to tell their stories and hope to make some differences.
