Benevolent Condemnation
Revealing the hidden casualties, of the COVID 19 lockdown.
During Covid 19 many of us knew the sacrifices that we were making when we decided to go into lockdown. The hit to the economy, the suspension of our personal rights, and the removal of social gatherings. All so that we might lower the deaths caused by the pandemic, reduce the strain on our hospital system, and protect the elderly. But something that we never anticipated is the tremendous impact that social isolation has had on everyone, especially the elderly. In a recent study, the impact that social isolation had on older generations was “anxiety, depression, poor sleep quality and physical inactivity”. This documentary aims to tell the story that no one is really talking about, or listening to. The story of one of many depressed and lonely elderlies that are desperately needing to be told. Focusing on my grandmother’s story, this documentary will shed light on the story of how my grandmother, Janet, felt during the lockdown, how it affected her, and how she almost died because of it.
