Beating the Odds

A previously incarcerated single mother strives to beat the odds against the legal system and mental health issues as she awaits trial.

​This Documentary will follow a young woman named Kendra Davis who was released from custody after giving birth to her son in jail in 2019.
Beating the Odds will address mental health issues that many young, incarcerated females face before
and after incarceration and how to cope and progress after traumatic events have occurred.

There will also be a specific focus on Kendra's own goals on how she plans to progress in life, move on
​from this incident, and regain her freedom.

​Deijahna is a broadcasting graduate who is in her third year at Sheridan College in the Bachelor of Film and Television program.

She believes every story being told should have a good underlying purpose with a message that could make a difference in society. Deijahna will use her personal connection and raw knowledge of life's crazy dilemmas as she brings to light the story of her cousin who is Beating The Odds against the judicial system.
