Sensory Overload
In a time of massive unrest for a variety of reasons, it is easy for one to feel beaten down into a sense of hopelessness. However, one man has a unique way of coping with the stress of living through an absurd time.
Sensory Overload follows Thomas Hughes as he showcases his history with repairing and collecting the arcade machines of the 1980s. This film is not just about the bygone era of arcades and pinball, but is a reflection on stress and how we all need to find a creative outlet that helps us during our most stressful times.
Sensory Overload takes on the issues of anxiety and stress, showing how Tom has found sanctuary from the noise and chaos of the world in his own home arcade. This doc is for anyone who needs a little bit of escapism from the stress we are all under, and perfect for those who grew up in the heyday of arcades and 80s culture. |

Cody Beauregard specializes in visual effects, learned during his time attending Sheridan
and later became the lead Motion Graphic Artist for the documentary “Sensory Overload”. His work on this project helped illustrate the stress and anxiety shown from the main subject Thomas Hughes as well as displaying an accurate depiction of the 8 bit game world that's similar to the old school arcade machines from the 70s and 80s. This style was meant to achieve a look that's not only entertaining to audiences but also offers a sense of nostalgia to the many fans of the retro gaming community. |
