The Team

Picture
Dominic Searles - Director/Editor

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Better known as Scorpion (全蠍人, "Full Scorpion Man"), is a resurrected ninja in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series as well as the mascot of the games. Dominic found his love for film stemmed from B-Rated Horror movies like Evil Dead II, and Lars Von Trier’s films, much to everyone else’s distaste. At Sheridan College, Dominic has focused his full attention into becoming his own idealised director that not only can point the finger, but know what he’s talking about when he does.

Picture
Sydney MacRea - Producer
Alignment: Chaotic Good

Sydney has always loved storytelling and the staple fantasy films such as Lord of the Rings. She grew up wanting to live in another world and wanting to be a part of the amazing stories in children’s films like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe. This led her to follow her love of film to Sheridan, specializing in screenwriting.

Chris Haiko- Co-Director/Writer
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

When Chris finally left his basement, after watching exactly one thousand movies (mostly nameless horror films, dumb arthouse films, and South Korean thrillers), he decided he would become a filmmaker. If he’s not listening to obscure electronic albums, he can usually be found writing scripts and drinking iced coffee; if you ever see him not doing one of these things, please contact his co-director, Dom, for further instruction.

Picture
Hubert Maliszewski - Director of Photography
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Hubert found his love for both fantasy and cinema at about the same time; when he discovered the Lord of the Rings films at an early age and realized he wanted to become both a filmmaker and a hobbit. Ever since he’s had a love of genre films, particularly horror, that’s informed the way he approaches his work at Sheridan College. He’s a pretty good cinematographer at this point but still hasn’t figured out a way to become a hobbit.

Zacky Makeen - Location Sound Mixer
Alignment: Neutral Good

If he's not doing anything sound related, you'll find Zacky consuming any sort of fantasy, whether that be films, video games and even a session of D&D. After watching Lord of the Rings as a child, he started his journey down the rabbit hole of fantasy and film, and eventually transitioning into a focus on boom

Tyler Allen - DIT/Transmedia Editor
Alignment: True Neutral

Tyler has always loved working with all kinds of tech, (even if it doesn’t like working with him). He has always enjoyed the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genres, growing up with the Narnia novels, and later getting more into Star Wars and Blade Runner as weekend movie marathon favourites.
Tyler hopes to bring the Storm Crow Manor, and all its geek culture into the spotlight with the documentary.

Picture
Winnifred Murphy - Director of Photography
Alignment: True Neutral

Winnie has spent countless hours binging fantasy films and has a great love for the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars series. Winnie has been apart of the role-playing game Dungeon and Dragons for several years starting in her early days of high school in her friend's basement. With her love of adventure and storytelling, it’s only fitting that Winnie has landed herself at Sheridan College studying film.

Mia Liu - VFX Editor
Alignment: True Neutral

Miya is a visionary and adventurous person. Growing up in an eastern culture, she had a strong interest in western culture as well since she was young. She advocates “Yin and Yang", which has a concept of how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another. And she gradually finds a balance between pursuing the truth of the world and transcending reality in studying movies.

Neal Shakyaver - SFX Editor & Boom Operator
Alignment: Chaotic Good

Ever since Neal was young he loved exploring. Walking through the woods and experiencing the fulfilment of adventure. Always a big sucker for fantasy and myth, he has also enjoyed films of this genre. Working on this documentary with like minded people bloomed new friendships. Working in the sound department, Neal is able to bring life to the world that The Storm Crow Manor’s documentary.
